INTRODUCING THOMAS PAUL 2 EXCLUSIVE PRINTS FOR DURALEE

BAY SHORE, New York - Following the success of his first print collection for Duralee, Thomas Paul expands his offerings of iconic patterns with Thomas Paul 2. His progressive and intuitive design sensibility is highlighted with a movement from modern two-tone, large-scale motifs into refreshingly re-imagined traditional designs colored for a more transitional feel. The illustrative hand-drawn style of Thomas Paul 2 is a direct reflection of the evolution of the Thomas Paul brand. While the bold, silhouetted designs of the first Thomas Paul collection are still present, new patterns such as "Botany", "Perch" and "Skimmer" usher in a fresh approach to contemporary design by utilizing a giclée effect to merge the detailed styling of antique engravings with a pop of color. Whimsical undersea animals, elegant perched birds and intricate botanicals mingle in realistically drawn detail and various scales. Describing his inspiration for Thomas Paul 2, Thomas states, "the idea with this style was to look at things like antique prints from books, which are still going to be very clean and clear, even though they are so detailed, because they are mechanically produced, not hand painted or drawn. We wanted to mimic the way these old engravings are also painted in by hand under the engraving to give them color." Saturated and vibrant, the colors of Thomas Paul 2 are pure Thomas Paul - persimmon, chartreuse, chocolate, lavender, charcoal, kiwi and aqua. These intriguing hues punctuate Thomas's signature patterns for a perfect marriage of fine design and color. Of his new collection as a whole, Thomas explains, "I feel like the style is definitely still me in terms of the scale, the color and, even though the designs are a different style, they are still very graphic. I think the market has evolved over the past few years, and now these fit perfectly into my line".
