Customer’s Own Material should be sent to Duralee Fine Furniture®, 647 Hopewell Road, Morganton, NC 28655. All COM should include the following information.
We must assume all COM’s sent have been inspected and ready for use. Please do not short us fabric. Allow us the materials to create your furniture beautifully.
DFF requires that any specific applications desired by the purchaser be noted on the order. In the absence of these instructions, DFF reserves the right to use the factories best judgment on fabric applications. Orders that require the fabric to be railroaded, must specify this term on the purchase order. The standard fabric layout places the top of the cutting pattern in the direction of the fabric as it comes off the bolt (non-railroad). Some fabrics have directions that run towards the side of the bolt (selvage) and for correct application, the fabric should be railroaded. All stripes will be applied in a vertical (typical) application unless the purchaser specifies differently.
Questions that arise out of this situation can delay the processing of an order.
DFF’s customer service department will request confirmation if there are any questions about fabric application.
DFF will not take responsibility for the appearance or tailoring of select fabrics. The purchaser is responsible for the suitability of the COM materials for upholstery purposes. Fabrics such as certain silks, chenilles, tapestries, leathers, specialty wovens and velvets are not recommended for certain skirt applications or as deck materials. Contact the factory with any COM concerns.
Fabrics that need to have backing as a result of a loose weave or light weight will be need to be backed prior to shipping to the factory or, upon inspection, will be held until the purchaser is notified of these findings. In this event, the factory will send the COM out for backing and a charge to the purchaser will appear on the acknowledgment or invoice for this service if requested.
“RAILROADING” refers to the application not the actual design. Fabrics marked “railroad” simply means it can be turned 90ºto be applied as in sketch #2. Horizontal stripes that run selvage to selvage must be railroaded to get the desired look and the vertical application as in sketch #2. The purchaser must specify a non railroad application otherwise all stripes are run vertically. Select fabrics that have a grain or nap should not be railroaded unless the grain or nap “smoothes down.” Fabrics with a horizontal stripe and a grain or nap (coming off the bolt selvage to selvage) can be railroaded only if the fabric “roughs” to the right.
Production will not begin on any item requiring any type of fabric, leather, trim or cords supplied by the purchaser until all the materials for the item ordered have arrived, been identified and inspected. The purchaser is responsible for ensuring that all materials are identifiable when received. The purchaser takes responsibility for the wear-ability, safety, or fire code validity of the materials supplied by the purchaser. DFF® takes no responsibility for the selection of the customers’ materials chosen. DFF® warranties do not extend to the customers materials supplied by the purchaser.
